State Fair Annual Meeting

August 9, 2024

The meeting was called to order at 12:35 by Barry Holst.

Introduction of board members. Thank you to Vanderwert for the food and Steele for the drinks. Thank you to Launie Petts for the check-in. Kara Cloud and Kris Callison for checking in cattle at the junior show.

Chip Kemp was a special guest speaker for later.

Annita Vanderwert spoke for the MO Cattlemen's Association.

Barry spoke about board members and open positions. 

The board nominated Andrea Mulligen and would like her to take the treasurer's role. Ed Rule moves to close nominations, and Scott Cowger seconds. Membership approved the board slate unanimously. 

Adam Owen gave a state fair update. The state fair asked for each breed to have a breed liaison, and Adam Owen was nominated and accepted the role.  

11 eligible females for the Extravaganza. 4 percentages and 5 purebreds. Vitaferm rep gave an update. Jim Puere spoke about it, asking for ideas on how to build it, and suggestions to make it better. 

Kara Cloud gave the advisor report for the juniors, along with Kaitlyn Cloud (co-advisors). Regional and national update was given, and new junior board members were elected today. She talked about regionals next year and maybe hosting it. She asked parents to fill out the feedback form provided by the QR code handed out. 

Morgan Hawley talked about our new website. We, as an association, have had to take it over and she is trying to have a place to put sales, managing memberships, keeping an updated directory, and a page for fall/spring sales. 

Amanda Kagarice gave an update on the Fall Banquet, which runs with the fall sale. Friday, November 1st in Springfield. Food, entertainment, and guest speakers will be on the agenda. Updates will be sent via email and social media. 

Barry talked about the fall sale and getting new consignors for our sales (Fall was specifically mentioned). 

Wayne Vanderwert gave a special announcement, along with Chip Kemp. Chip was excited to announce that the Fall Focus will be hosted by Missouri in 2025. To be held in Columbia. Friday through Tuesday (August 22, 2025). 

In other business, Jim talked about the Fall sale and what kind of cattle to bring (AI-bred, more than one). 

Scott moved to adjourn the meeting/ Ed Vest seconded the motion at 1:15. Meeting adjourned.
