2025 MO State Fair Annual Meeting Minutes

Called to order at 12:25. Members present 100

Introductions of board members were done by Barry. All board members are present.

Barry announced the new executive director to the crowd. He also spoke about the change in DNA rules for bulls.

He went over MSA accomplishments to tell the public what we offer for membership.

  • 5 ($1000) scholarships.

  • Handle our own stalling for the state fair now (Adam Owen).

  • Using the Youth Building for our annual meeting.

  • Support the Showme Shootout for State Fair.

  • Open House for the American Royal.

  • We also changed our sale manager to Bret Nalor this year.

  • Annual Banquet in the Fall with the Fall Harvest.

MO Cattleman’s Mike Deering spoke on behalf of the MO Cattlemen’s Association, and involvement at the capital.

Board member elections ran. The board recommended the return of Wayne Vanderwert, Joe Garretson, and Kris Callison. Members voted to keep them on. They recommend Kari Chamberlin and David Vest to fill the vacant spots. Barry asked for nominations from the floor. None were made, so Dexter moved that nominations cease. Glenn Callison seconded. Voice vote to accept the two new members to the board. passed unanimously.

State Fair update - Barry thanked Andrea for getting awards. Jim Puyear talked about the Heifer Xtravaganza. We need more breeders to put heifers in for next year. Barry talked about auctioning off stalls in the future to put money in a pot to improve the facility. See Kris if you have suggestions or ideas.

Kara Cloud, junior advisor, gave a junior report. Scholarships were then given out to the following juniors: Kallie Cloud, Alison Coats, Ella Fisher, Kenzi Milligan, Piper Steele.

Wayne Vanderwert talked about Fall Focus. It is in Missouri this year, and many from the state are attending it. He talked about the schedule, tours, and the educational aspect of it.

Fall Harvest was then discussed by Brett Naylor. He is the sale manager for the sale. Barry talked about the survey that was sent out last Spring.

David Vest then talked about his Missouri Department of Ag trip to Mexico. Toured several herds.

Barry asked for any new business, and Amanda presented Barry with a token of appreciation from the board for his service.

Ed Vest moved to close the meeting, and Dexter seconded. Meeting adjourned at 1:18 PM.
